Defining poetry today
While the Lyrical Valley project certainly does mobilise creative forces, it also fosters a strong dynamic around reflection. How to define poetry today? In our democracies, to whom does it belong? What are its forms? How does it approach the digital and multimedia world? Is this a renewed interest in poetry below or beyond the book? To address these questions, we bring knowledge, culture and research institutions to the University of Lausanne to explore poetry’s new limits and potential. Every “poetic act”, every player within the network can partially transform the relationship we have with poetry. This is why the observation of the territory, and the awareness of contemporary practices (both local and global) illustrate a new way of working with poetry on the ground, in select “cultural basins”.
